Matthew 25:1–13
“Keep awake therefore, for you know neither the day nor the hour.” — Matthew 25:13
In the parable of the ten bridesmaids, Jesus reminds us that readiness is not simply a matter of staying awake. All ten grew tired, and all ten slept. The difference was that five had prepared for the bridegroom's arrival.
Christian preparedness is not about living in fear of what tomorrow may bring. It is about living faithfully today.
God has given us the Church, the Body of Christ, where we encourage, strengthen, and hold one another accountable in love. Sometimes we are the ones offering guidance; other times, we are the ones who need it.
There is no shame in asking for help. In fact, recognizing our need for one another is a mark of spiritual maturity.
We are called to be a community that loves God, cares for one another, and prepares together for the promises of Christ.
Ask early. Ask often. Encourage one another. Stay ready.
Sleep with your boots on.
